Peer Review 2

Becca’s Blog

In Becca’s Blog dated Monday April 21, 2008, she expresses about where she’d like to travel to Uganda Africa while learning and studying “orphans loosing their parents to aids and how developing nations suffer with help from industrial nations like the U.S.

It takes a noble person in my eyes to want to help African’s growing concerns towards the children and their needs.

CCF or Children Christian Fund has given us all, some information how life is for these kids and the struggles they endure every day. And just recently, “American Idol, has aired a campaign calling it, “American Idol Gives Back,” to raise money for medical and school supplies as well as their own time, support or just leading a hand to this most hardship and poverty stricken cause. But, it still isn’t enough.

In Reflection One, I tell of my own experience as a child with these African kids and what I could do about it. Though it wasn’t much it helped me to understand a great deal about other cultures and hardships many children face each day.

"When I was seven years old, there was a commercial showing a poor little girl with a stained and ripped dress, one shoe surrounded by mounds of garbage and living in a cardboard house. Everyone later would know of this commercial as Children’s Christian Fund or CCF. But, at the time, seeing flies swarm around her and living how she did, made tears stream down my face, as I ran to my bedroom, crying for this little girl.”
"My mom came in my room shortly afterwards. I explain to her why I was so upset. Mom just smiled and comforts me for a little while. Then she finally placed her hand on my chin, raising my head to meet her eyes and said, “You’re a pretty special person Lynn!”
“Two days later we made cupcakes, then went around the neighborhood selling them door-to-door to everyone we could. We collected over $10.00 and mailed the money to the foundation.”
“A few months later we got a letter thanking us for our kind donation. Both of my parents were so proud of me, bragging to the family what I did. I was pretty proud of myself as well. It felt so good to give to this little girl who was close to my own age, hungry, tried and poor, a small helping hand.“

I praise Rebecca for “wishing to decrease ignorance of foreign poverty, bring hope to African orphans and bring attention and opportunities to make a difference.”

It only takes one idea Rebecca. And even if you may or may not accomplish every thing you set out to do, at least you know there is always a way to help people less fortunate, even if it’s just a small helping hand. Good Luck on finding your quest, for I will stand behind you.

This is in response to my second peer review.
